MR. PARSONS PRESENTED A MOTION SECONDED BY MR. EGLESTON THAT THE HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION CONVENE IN CLOSED SESSION TO CONSIDER MATTERS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PROPOSED ACQUISITION OF REAL ESTATE.  THE COMMISSION UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE MOTION.

A.  Prospective Purchase of the Charles E. Barnhardt House, 2733 Country Club Lane, Charlotte, N.C.


THE PROJECTS COMMITTEE PRESENTED A SECONDED MOTION TO  THE HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION THAT THE FOLLOWING REVISIONS BE MADE TO THE OFFER APPROVED BY THE HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION AT ITS MEETING ON NOVEMBER 12, 2016, TO PURCHASE THE CHARLES E. BARNHARDT HOUSE, 2733 COUNTRY CLUB LANE, CHARLOTTE, N.C.: 1) 90 DAY DUE DILIGENCE PERIOD, 2) 30 DAY CLOSING AFTER DUE DILIGENCE SUBJECT TO CONTINGENCIES IN THE CONTRACT, 3) 170 DAYS FROM CLOSING TO COMPLETE THE IMPROVEMENTS TO THE PROPERTY, AND 4) ADOPT OTHER REVISIONS IN THE CONTRACT.  THE COMMSSION UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE MOTION.

MR. MILLER PRESENTED A MOTION SECONDED BY MR. PARSONS THAT THE COMMISSION AUTHORIZE  THE HLC STAFF, THE CHAIR OF THE PROJECTS COMMITTEE OF THE HLC, AND THE CHAIR OF THE HLC, ACTING JOINTLY, TO APPROVE ALL ADDITIONAL CHANGES THAT MIGHT BE NECESSARY TO THE CONTRACT TO PURCHASE THE CHARLES E. BARNHARDT HOUSE, 2733 COUNTRY CLUB LANE, CHARLOTTE, N.C.  THE COMMISSION UANANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE MOTION.

 B.  The Disposition of Real and Personal Property associated with the Charles E. Barnhardt House and grounds.

Dr. Morrill reported that he had met with Deborah Brown who is selling real and personal property associated with the Charles E. Barnhardt House and Grounds.  He asked the Commissioners to advise him as to what process should be followed to determine what items should be acquired by the HLC.  A general consensus emerged that Dr. Morrill should work with Ms. Hoover, Mr. Shurley, Mr. Pursley, and Mr. Wasmer to examine the items, to determine their cost, and to advise the Commission what items should be purchased.

MR. SHURLEY PRESENTED A MOTION SECONDED BY MR. PARSONS THAT THE HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION RECONVENE IN OPEN SESSION.  THE COMMISSION UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE MOTION.
